Best-in-class WAN products and services receive honors for 2009
No technology is truly recession-proof, but the wide area network is about as close as it comes. Businesses are actually making investments in distributed environments to maximize productivity, increase security and reduce their carrier costs. How can you be sure you are making the best WAN investments? You can read about your peers' favorite WAN products and services in our Product Leadership Awards. The award winners were selected by networking professionals themselves, based on their assessments of the products they currently deploy.
The editors at SearchEnterpriseWAN.com used a survey-based system to discover what products and services readers are using and how they feel about them. The questions asked depended on the specific product and its important functions. The editors compiled the results to come up with the best products and services that are actually being used to keep today's wide area networks running efficiently, delivering numerous applications and secure access to users in multiple and far-flung locations.
More than 500 readers were polled to produce results. Respondents were asked to select the product and services they currently use in three major WAN categories and to evaluate them according to product-specific criteria. Each criterion was assigned a value and cumulative scores were calculated for each. SearchEnterpriseWAN.com editors used these scores to award gold, silver and bronze medals to the industry's best WAN products and services.
Editors also invited vendors to submit products for consideration for our WAN Product Showcase. This section of our site highlights products and services that may not have won an award in our program, but are innovative, solve a specific problem, or are otherwise worthy of our readers' attention.
